As for towing, the Polaris Ranger XD 1500 is just like a truck and pulls like a champ with 3500 pounds, while XPEDITION trails at 2000 pounds.
The Range XD 1500 has 12 in of suspension travel. Its suspension system, including the springs and shocks, can handle loads as many as an F-150.
Even if you put a ton of weight in Ranger XD 1500, it doesn’t squish the spring at all. It allows you to have everything on the trails and the farm a lot faster than you would in a truck. While it’s a concern whether the Ranger can withstand all that weight and still have a good ride.
The XPEDITION has a Dual A-Arm with a Stabilizer Bar 14 in front travel and a Dual Arm IRS with a Stabilizer Bar 15 in rear travel.
The Ranger XD 1500 has a 15-inch ground clearance completing robust suspension, capable of handling heavy loads without sagging, whereas the XPEDITION XP offers 14 inches of clearance.
Both vehicles have a 30-inch tire, but the Polaris says that Ranger can even fit 32-inch tires without modification—an impressive feat right out of the box!
A 6,000-pound higher-capacity winch sets the Ranger XD 1500 apart. It's a higher-capacity winch than on any other UTV we've seen.

Polaris has long maintained an edge in the horsepower department, especially with the ProStar engine. We don’t see this changing in the coming years, either.
The RZR maintains a commendable ground clearance of 14.5”, while the Talon provides 13” of ground clearance.
While an inch and a half might not seem like a lot, it can make a world of difference when navigating rocky trails, so it’s well worth considering.
Weight and dimension are incredibly important things to consider, which are often overlooked.
The Polaris RZR boasts a width of 64” and a length of 119”. The wheelbase sits at around 90”, making it consistent with the previous model.
On the other hand, the Talon stretches out to 123.7” long and 68.4” wide with a wheelbase of 92.7”. With its added size, the Talon might encounter challenges in certain states with width restrictions on certain trails and tracks.
Weight-wise, the Polaris RZR comes in at 1633 pounds, while the Talon weighs in at 1554 pounds. Even though the Talon has less horsepower than the RZR, taking about 100 pounds off of the total weight helps offset the difference. Even so, in a drag race, the RZR might have the upper hand.

With a bit less power, a more affordable starting price, and a solid 36-month warranty, the Kawasaki Mule is an excellent UTV for beginners. While the towing capacity is 500 pounds less than the Ranger, it still offers plenty of power for most applications.

Overall, the ride is really smooth and easy. We really enjoy the low center of gravity that this model offers, as well as the power-to-weight ratio.
One of the main disadvantages of the Ryker is that it doesn't provide the most thrilling ride experience for avid writers. Unless you upgrade to one of these 600 or 900 options, you’ll have a pretty basic three-wheeled motorcycle.
While the ride is pretty easy, you get a pretty poor turning radius, which can make it difficult to maneuver the bike in narrower spaces.
Some have also complained about the Ryker overheating, as the radiator sits very low on the vehicle. This means that you may collect debris that causes the bike to overheat. In reality, it's a simple design flaw that could have been addressed during manufacturing.
The Can-Am Spyder takes it a step up in terms of performance, delivering 105 horsepower with a 1300cc Rotax ACE engine. With a high-quality three-cylinder design, you get excellent gas mileage, exceptional acceleration, and optimal torque.
While the bike is heavier than the Ryker, it has a very sporty riding position with the same overall design as a snowmobile.
The Can-Am Spyder gives riders more control with its six-speed transmission, though it comes with automatic-mode handling and an electronically-controlled power steering system for a safer and easier ride than your average bike. It is worth noting that the Can-Am Spyder is much heavier than the Ryker, which can be a bit of a pain for smaller riders.

One of the biggest selling points Can-Am Commander is its fit and finish. If you sit down in each of these vehicles, the one thing you'll notice when you sit down in the Commander is that it is built much better. It is clear that the team at Can-Am put more work into the craftsmanship of the Commander to make it a premium ride.
From the dashboard to the seats, you'll notice that it has a more expensive look and a more comfortable feel than the Polaris General.
The seats are incredibly comfortable in the Can-Am Commander in the cab is plenty roomy and great for riding with larger groups. The bed storage is pretty ample as well. While it has about half the cab storage of the General, it makes up for it with the dual-level cargo box.
Lastly, you get the Rotax engine, which arguably has more endurance than the Prostar engine found in the General. While both of these UTVs certainly have quality engines, the Commander’s Rotax engine vibrates slightly less than the General’s, creating what might be a more durable UTV overall.
While we do love the Rotax V-Twin engine in the Can-Am, it is pretty loud, and it can heat up the cab much faster than the engine in the Polaris General, which makes for slightly uncomfortable rides on hot days.
We've also noticed issues with the Visco-Lok differential not engaging quickly enough.
Compared to the General, the Commander has higher gearing, which makes it more difficult to get over high obstacles in certain circumstances.
Lastly, the Commander is much harder to perform engine maintenance on, as you have to remove the two plastic panels beneath the passenger seat. This can be a lot of work for a simple oil change.
The Polaris General comes out on top in terms of specs, packing in more power, better suspension travel, and higher ground clearance. It also shines on technical trails with lower gearing and a quality front differential. Whether you're crawling over high boulders, ruts, or logs, the Polaris General can rip through the trail like nobody's business.
You also get a bit more cab storage in the Polaris General, allowing you to haul more cargo, even without the dual-level cargo box.
Compared to the Can-Am Commander, the Polaris General is easier to maintain, as you never have to take it apart to perform simple maintenance tasks, such as changing the oil.
It is worth noting that the Polaris General has a cab that is a bit less comfortable than the Can-Am Commander. Overall, the Commander has better craftsmanship. You almost feel like you're sitting in a toy if you hop in the General after spending time in the Commander.
Let's also not forget the number of recalls that the Polaris General has had compared to the Can-Am Commander. While neither of these UTVs should require a lot of servicing on average, there tend to be more problems with the General than the Commander.
The Can-Am Commander is a much better choice for easy rides, as it is more comfortable, provides a bit more room, and rides smoothly over relatively even terrain. It maintains traction pretty well and uses high-quality torsional trailing arms.
On the other hand, if you're getting into more technical terrain, the Polaris General is a better choice, thanks to its low gearing and front differential.
While both of these UTVs are relatively reliable and don't require much maintenance, the Polaris General has had many recalls in the past that diminish its overall reliability. With that said, it is much easier to perform routine maintenance than on the Can-Am Commander.
